History of Block Panchayat

In 1942, the Kuttippuram Block came into existence as part of the National Extension Service. On land generously donated by Thozhuvanoor Manakkal Puroshothaman Namboothirippad, the then Rural Development Minister, Shri Avukkadar Kuttinah, inaugurated the Kuttippuram Block Office building on 23-08-1986. This block is located in the south-eastern part of Malappuram district.

To the north lies Malappuram Block, to the south the Bharathapuzha River, to the west Thanoor and Tirur Blocks, and to the east the Thutha River and Mankada Block. Situated mainly in the riverine region of the Bharathapuzha, this block has maintained a distinct agricultural economy.

However, the current situation of decline, weakening, and economic slowdown in this region has affected the agricultural economy. Nevertheless, Kuttippuram remains one of the few blocks where agriculture has not disappeared.

The main crops cultivated here include paddy, coconut, arecanut, banana, cashew, tapioca, black pepper, vegetables, and betel leaves. Even though the extent of agricultural land is steadily decreasing, people who love farming sincerely hope that agriculture will not disappear from this region. At the same time, the trend of people shifting from agriculture to other sectors is also becoming noticeable.
